Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the SA-Dean of Students department. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Students/Director of Off-Campus Living & Community Partnerships.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Provides executive level administrative support to the Offices of the Dean of Students/Off-Campus Living & Community Initiatives.
  • Performs professional, administrative, and business tasks.
  • Oversees student and landlord data.
  • Schedules and confirms training sessions and educational workshops.
  • Handles student center reservations, programmatic, event, and facility-related support; business/budgetary support, payroll, and purchasing functions.
  • Supports the day-to-day operations of the office and various professional staff members.
  • Supports the logistics and implementation of a variety of off-campus living and community programs and events.
  • Provides support to the division for university events including New Student Convocation, Homecoming, University Open House, and Rutgers Day.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping and/or report writing.
Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to be organized and responsible.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with a college and university setting.
  • Three (3) years of experience in an office setting and budget administration experience.
  • An understanding of the structures and hierarchies of higher education.
  • Ability to work well with a variety of constituents, including upper administration, faculty, parents, staff and especially students.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Night and weekend work is required with schedules adjusted accordingly.
