GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Strategic Initiatives Program Director is responsible for assisting the President with the coordination of executive priorities and implementation of operational and strategic objectives. As a representative of the President, the Strategic Initiatives Program Director interfaces with external organizations. The Strategic Initiatives Program Director will serve as a key liaison to the JHH Board of Trustees, overseeing key meetings and agendas. This role works to implement the President's agenda by coordinating high level projects and driving implementation of strategic priorities.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports directly to the President of The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Supervises Executive Assistants within the Administration department in consultation with their executives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide senior-level support for the President
- Monitors progress on strategic objectives and institutional priorities and prepares action items to drive progress.
- Facilitates executive management agenda planning, including periodic retreats.
- Anticipates and gathers critical information for decision-making and prepares recommendations for the President.
- Represents the President in meetings when the President is unavailable.
- Coordinates response to Trustee inquiries and serves as a Board liaison as directed by the President.
- Serves as an expeditor of important tasks by facilitating action plans.
- Develops board-level and senior management presentations.
- Leads ad hoc and standing committees and task forces as a representative of the President around strategic and operational priorities.
- Assists President with annual review of executive performance and development of individual and department goals.
- Identifies and researches emerging issues for the attention of the President and ensure that briefing and background materials are available for key decisions and key events.
- Provides coordination, oversight, guidance, and management of high-level projects and programs, including monitoring progress toward meeting goals and benchmarks and ensuring follow-through of key hospital staff members.
- Engages with community-based organizations to strengthen and expand JHH's relationship with community partners.
- Leads organizational responses and strategies to existing or emerging crisis situations.
- Collaborates with key leaders of other Johns Hopkins entities to develop and facilitate system strategies on behalf of JHH when appropriate.
SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- To serve as a trusted advisor to the President, the role requires exceptional communication skills matched with demonstrated integrity, self-motivation, analytical skills and emotional intelligence.
- Ability to use appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to influence and build effective relationships with business partners (e.g., peers, functional partners, external vendors, and alliance partners).
- Extensive knowledge of business and financial terminology, and an excellent command of the English language. Advanced writing skills including effective composition of reports and proposals. Demonstrated ability to use a variety of analytical techniques to gather data and analyze reports.
- Ability to coordinate functions and processes of the office, to promote cooperative behavior and team efforts, and to effectively organize, assemble and arrange resources to meet goals.
- Ability to demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to handle sensitive and confidential information/situations, and to interact with diverse groups of people demonstrating poise, tact, and diplomacy - both inside the institution as well as with outside agencies.
- Ability to maintain personal composure in high stress situations; handling multiple demands and demonstrating flexibility in adapting to changing conditions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Master's degree in health care administration or similar degree required. Experience beyond the work experience requirement may be substituted for the degree.
- Minimum ten years experience working with/supporting senior leaders in a large Hospital environment. Academic hospital experience is desirable
- Experience leading projects, working with the board, and Strategic plans.
Salary Range: Minimum 0.00 per hour - Maximum 0.00 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
