Job Summary: This position requires persons trained and/or certified as childbirth educators to provide for the education and the continuum of care of families as they prepare for pregnancy, birth, parenting, and family life. Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Experience working in a structured adult education program. 2. Emotionally mature and stable with the ability to be flexible. 3. Ability to work creatively and effectively with others. 4. Physical ability to meet the job demands. 5. Effective verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills to include team building and teaching. 6. Sound conflict management skills and the ability to be fair, unbiased and even-tempered. 7. Manual dexterity. Minimum Education and Experience: 1. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia, preferred. 2. Graduation from a certification training seminar of at least 18 hours duration within the specialty area hired to teach, required. 3. Exempt from certification requirement if employee has met the requirements for classes to be taught through previous experience and education. This will be determined at the discretion of the Manager of Childbirth Educator & Lactation Services. 4. Minimum of three years experience in maternity nursing and/or childbirth education, preferred. 5. Current CPR Certification required. Salary Range: Minimum 35.32 per hour - Maximum 55.82 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
