Position Summary
The Department of Molecular Genetics & Microbiology in the UNM School of Medicine is seeking a professional, detail-oriented Accountant II who possesses strong problem solving and communication skills to interact with faculty, staff, post docs, graduate students at all levels.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for managing unrestricted and restricted funds to include completing and entering budgets, monitoring and monthly reconciliation of indexes, preparing and updating monthly projection reports and other financial reports. Financial transactions such as PCard reconciliations, reimbursements, requisitions and journal vouchers. Processing financial transactions such as labor re distributions, journal vouchers, coordination and preparation of regularly scheduled and special billings. Providing guidance and support to faculty and staff in regards to accounting related issues and UNM policies and procedures.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in MS Excel to analyze/interpret financial date and prepare financial reports
  • Experience working with UNM financial systems including: Banner, Chrome River, LoboWeb, MyReports
  • Contract and Grant experience
  • Knowledge of University Policies/Procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
