Job Summary

The Data Analyst I supports the institution's course scheduling and curriculum planning efforts through data collection, analysis, and reporting. Assists in optimizing course offerings, section sizes, and teaching staff allocation based on data-driven insights. The analyst contributes to the development of flexible scheduling strategies and supports the establishment of cyclical review processes for curriculum planning

  • Conducts basic data analysis to suggest modifications to course offerings, including identifying underutilized or oversubscribed courses
  • Assists in analyzing historical enrollment data to suggest changes to section sizes, where possible, based on results of data analysis.
  • Supports the analysis of teaching staff allocation by gathering and organizing data to help determine the right mix of full-time and temporary teaching staff.
  • Collects and analyzes data on classroom utilization and online/hybrid course performance to support the exploration of flexible scheduling options that maximize physical space.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining a cyclical review process for data-driven course scheduling and curricular planning by preparing regular reports and data updates.
  • Gathers and compiles data from various sources, including student information systems, course evaluations, and departmental records, to support comprehensive analysis of course offerings.
  • Assists in the analysis of course prerequisite structures and their impact on student progression and completion rates.
  • Helps analyze the effectiveness of different course modalities (in-person, online, hybrid) by compiling and summarizing student performance and satisfaction data.
  • Assists in identifying courses with high drop/fail/withdraw rates and gathers data to support intervention strategies.
  • Supports the analysis of course scheduling patterns to identify potential conflicts and suggest optimizations that improve student access and progression.
  • Assists in exploring factors influencing course demand by collecting and organizing data on variables such as class time, format, prerequisites, and major popularity.
  • Helps analyze curriculum offerings and course demand patterns by compiling data on course availability, enrollment, modality, and student feedback and uses it to inform strategic decisions on program offerings, resource allocation, and capacity planning.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization.

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic understanding of database systems.
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis techniques and statistical concepts.
  • Knowledge of predictive analytics and ability to interpret predictive models.
