Under supervision of the Lab Manager, the incumbent independently performs laboratory functions that involve a wide variety of standard human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV) qualitative assays. Assists the Principal Investigator (PI) and Lab Manager in conducting experiments investigating human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) variation present in CSF, blood, gut tissue and semen. Will engage in highly specialized technical laboratory procedures such as PBMC processing, gut tissue extraction, viability, cell culture, DNA, RNA extraction and storage. Duties include sample processing, preparation of various types of samples for storage and dangerous goods shipping. Primary responder to cell inventory for the entire AntiViral Research Center (AVRC). The incumbent will develop new and modify existing standard procedures to meet the needs of complex research projects. Will also be responsible for other laboratory tasks including the maintenance of an accurate laboratory notebook, ordering supplies, preparation of solutions, maintaining a clean and orderly laboratory area and minor equipment maintenance, and other lab tasks as needed. This position will involve community based study visits that will require phlebotomy skills. Other duties assigned as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $60,301 - $97,008 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $28.88 - $46.46 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
