About the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The Woodruff School graduates high caliber mechanical engineers for a demanding profession. Mechanical engineers are the foundation of today's technological world. To do so, we provide enhanced facilities and laboratories to create the best learning environment and we attract outstanding faculty and students. In this period of rapid technological change, the Woodruff School produces mechanical engineers who are vital to our future. Job Summary

The Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a Research Engineer for the Immunotherapy and Cell Engineering Laboratory (ICEL).

Duties for this position, may include, but are but not limited to

  1. Research Leadership
    • Lead innovative and cutting-edge research in the fields of bioengineering, immunoengineering, or other interdisciplinary areas as determined by ongoing projects.
    • Design, plan, and execute experiments, ensuring rigorous data analysis and interpretation.
    • Mentor and collaborate with graduate and undergraduate students to foster a productive research environment.
  2. Manuscript Writing and Publication
    • Prepare high-quality scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
    • Drive the writing process for manuscripts, revision, and successful publications
    • Contribute to grant proposals when applicable.
  3. Presentation and Dissemination of Research
    • Present research findings at national and international scientific conferences.
    • Actively engage in lab meetings and collaborative discussions with internal and external partners.
    • Actively engage in weekly research progress updates with advisor.
  4. Collaboration and Teamwork
    • Work closely with collaborators from Georgia Tech, Emory School of Medicine, and other institutions on interdisciplinary projects.
    • Contribute to collaborative efforts, ensuring effective communication and shared progress.
  5. Maintain a Healthy Work-Life Balance: Actively manage research responsibilities in a way that respects and prioritizes work-life balance, while remaining productive, in line with the lab's culture and values.
  6. Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

This position vacancy is an open rank announcement. Research Engineer I

  • Bachelor's Degree in bioengineering or related area

Research Engineer II

  • A Master's degree in bioengineering, or related area, and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree in bioengineering, or related area, and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree
Preferred Qualifications

A doctoral degree in Bioengineering or related fields
