OUC - The Reliable One, an industry leader and the second-largest municipal utility in Florida, is offering an internship program in the Corporate Analytics & Planning division.

We are looking for an Corp Analytics & Planning Intern - Summer 2025. During the internship, you will be involved in providing and supporting financial and business planning analysis for multiple initiatives and services such as forecasting; corporate pro-forma financial statement modeling; cost of service studies; designing new and innovative rates; long-term planning initiatives; conservation program evaluation, measurement, and verification; and capital projects and new business ventures analysis.

Internship Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in a degree seeking program.
  • Academic status of Junior.
  • Program of study: Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to commit to a full-time schedule during May 19, 2025 through August 15, 2025.

The Ideal Candidate will have knowledge of:

  • Accounting Principles
  • Financial analysis of business operations
  • Financial reporting (i.e.- income statement, balance sheet, etc.)
  • Discounted cash flow
  • Regression Analysis
  • Presentations
  • Management Reports

"Nice to Haves":

  • Excel (Vlookup, pivot tables, etc.)
  • PowerPoint (Formatting, graphs, etc.)
  • Access (create/maintain databases)
  • SQL
  • Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percentages
  • Data Analytics (SQL, R, Python, Tableau, or Power BI) to extract and analyze large data sets
  • Attention to detail
  • Communication skills (ability to clearly present financial information)
  • Teamwork and collaboration

The Corporate Analytics & Planning team is essentially the finance team for OUC. The department's main responsibilities are rates, forecasting, and financial evaluations. We support all business lines with these activities including electric, water, chilled water, and lighting. Annually we perform the sales and revenue forecasts for these areas along with the electric peak forecast. Rate evaluation is done on an ongoing basis and includes ensuring recovery of OUC's expenses, being competitively priced, and creating innovative rate designs for our customers while helping support the electric and water systems.

Compensation: $17 - $18 per hour, varies depending the education level

Schedule: Full-Time (up to 40 hours per week) - Hybrid Schedule
