Director, Sourcing and Value Analysis

The Director of Sourcing and Contracting is responsible for identifying, developing and implementing opportunities in clinical strategic sourcing for Inova. Oversees the leadership of the strategic sourcing team, day to day sourcing, and contracting activities such as the monitoring of contract performance. Develops, evaluates, and manages vendor relationships, drafts and negotiates contracts, and builds relationships with Inova clinical and operational stakeholders. Oversees benchmarking activities, reviews industry best practice and other initiatives to achieve cost savings and increase quality outcomes. The process of leading and developing a contract portfolio for clinical service lines should align with sourcing high quality products at an effective cost and focusing on supply chain excellence.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversees assigned department or functional area to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organization's goals, ensuring legal compliance, communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members, and managing departmental budget and fiscal success.
  • Completes performance reviews for strategic sourcing team and provide timely feedback to address performance/quality and training issues as needed; Responsible for hiring, orienting, disciplining and terminating staff.
  • Develops and executes against a contract strategy to support service line program development; this includes scanning the market and proactively identifying contract opportunities.
  • Performs and leverages analytics to inform sourcing/contracting strategies (e.g., benchmarking, industry/market analysis, spend analysis, contribution margin analysis, cost/benefit analysis).
  • Tracks record of identifying and implementing cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives across various areas (e.g., pricing, standardizing, utilization).
  • Manages internal customer and supplier relationships to ensure successful contract implementation and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensures exceptional relationship building, interpersonal and communication skills that translate into strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Creates strategic business plans for various contract categories and clearly communicate ideas to senior leadership for input and support.
  • Understands contract management and contract risks/gaps in the healthcare provider industry as well as understanding of how to coordinate with legal.
  • In conjunction with Sr. Director of Strategic and Vice President of Supply Chain, establishes and maintains supplier partnerships through strategic alliances and partnership reviews.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 7 years experience in health care with facilitation of contract negotiations
  • Education - Bachelor's degree in related field (or relevant experience in lieu of degree equivalent to 4 years)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical background preferred
  • Experience managing teams and fostering inclusive environments
  • Demonstrated in value analysis for high-cost procedural areas as well as experience evaluating new medical technologies, products, and devices for cost-effectiveness and clinical impact.

*Hybrid role with on-site requirements average 2 days/week
