Located in the scenic Puget Sound area with nearby mountain ranges and Mount Rainier in the distance, Tacoma is surrounded by outdoor recreational opportunities such as hiking, boating and camping. Tacoma, Washington has been ranked as one of the most livable cities in the country, due to the increasing career opportunities, cultural diversity and community engagement, just to name a few. Tacoma Community College (TCC) was built on the ancestral territory of Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Puyallup and Squaxin Island Tribes. The 1854 Medicine Creek Treaty forcibly removed them to Reservations to make way for colonizers; we recognize the privilege of utilizing this land has come at a great cost. We honor the resilience of the Puyallup and Squaxin Island people, who still live here, defend their rights, and contribute greatly to the well-being of our community. Our institution aims to increase partnerships and community ties with the local indigenous populations. Moreover, TCC stands in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and the Black community by further strengthening collaboration with the Black Student Union as well as community entities such as the Tacoma-Pierce County Black Collective, the Tacoma Urban League, and local black-owned businesses. In addition, we strongly support the Stop Asian Hate movement and have an active Asian Pacific Islander Student Club as well as an Asian and Pacific Islander Faculty and Staff Coalition. TCC is committed to developing more culturally responsive curricula by infusing and incorporating more educational content focused on the lives, experiences, and contributions of Native, Black, Asian, and other marginalized communities. Position Summary
To provide administrative and clerical support for Access Services. Including scheduling, maintaining accurate records for all transactions affecting budget preparation, and establishing and maintaining student and program records and files. The Program Specialist 2 will also assist the Director with student retention projects that include compiling and analyzing student data. This may include producing reports and statistical data as needed. The Program Specialist 2 also assists office staff with proctoring throughout the year.
They serve as a campus resource for Access Services and provide ongoing consultation and problem-solving assistance to faculty and staff regarding the nature of accommodations and how academic accommodations can be implemented in the class. The Accommodation Specialist serves on departmental, division, and college committees and assists with developing program policies and procedures relating to student access.

Essential Functions
-
- Organize, manage, and hire work-study student employment within Access Services department. Primary trainer for work-study students, as well as tracking productivity, knowledge, and time cards.
- Organize, schedule and maintain all Access Services alternative testing with the help of the Office Clerk and Access Services staff.
- Assist the Program Director in supply ordering, tracking, and distribution.
- Maintain the Access Services Disability Services data base, Accessible Information Management (A.I.M.) in conjunction with ctcLink.
- Perform complex scheduling for all students and staff and Access Services department.
- Set up, distribution, and monitoring of new "Note-taking Software" accommodation (OTTER Ai and Glean).
- Assist Accommodation Specialist/Assistive Technology Specialist in creating videos, training guides, and information for Access Students regarding all new processes, software programs, remote test proctoring.
- Communicate with American Sign Language (A.S.L.) and Communication Access Realtime Translation (C.A.R.T.) teams regarding student needs, schedules, and professor communications.
- Assist Director with quarterly A.S.A.P. reports (participate in and monitor activities in relation to established goals) and accreditation planning and execution.
- Assist the Director with the Access Services budget activities including monitoring/maintaining all accounts, monthly recon, ordering/purchasing for monthly and yearly expenditures, S&A fund planning/purchasing, Disability Allocation planning, ordering, distribution and set-up.
- Communicate and Collaborate with various department leads regarding Disability Allocation projects.
- Provides information and technical assistance to program participants, staff, and outside entities regarding program content, policies and activities and recommends alternative courses of action; promotes the program with outside organizations and resources.
- Analyzes program participants' operations and performance to program policies, procedures, practices and conformance with rules and regulations; provides assistance, counseling and/or instruction as needed.
- Attends meetings as a program representative; develops and makes presentations on program related topics.
- Monitor program activities in relation to established goals; within established program parameters, determine variances from standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- 2 years of clerical experience in a professional office setting.
- OR equivalent education and experience.
- Intermediate word processing, database, and spreadsheet skills using Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education setting.
- Experience working with and providing customer service to under-represented populations, including individuals with disabilities in higher education.
- Previous experience working in a disability student support office.
- Previous experience with budget management and maintenance.
- Previous experience with office management and supervision of one or more staff.
Required conditions of employment:
- Successful completion of a criminal history background check.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time overtime eligible classified position scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm during the academic year. Summer schedule will be Monday through Thursday, 10-hour days. The salary range for this position is $3,910 - $4,865 monthly. Work location is the TCC main campus.

A collective bargaining agreement exists and membership in the Washington Federation of State Employees or payment of a membership fee is available anytime upon employment. The layoff unit for this position is "All Other WFSE Classified". Degrees must be from accredited colleges or universities recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and verified by the National Student Clearinghouse.
International degrees will be verified for U.S. equivalency.
