Position Summary:

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the general accounting function for North America. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the month end close process including journal entries, account reconciliations and other accounting related activities.

Key Responsibilities Include:



  • Execute monthly close processes and tasks in a timely manner.
  • Review journal entries submitted into the general ledger system with appropriate supporting documentation. Prepare and submit journal entries as needed.
  • Review and/or perform balance sheet account reconciliations, account analyses, accrual calculations, and other related accounting schedules on a monthly basis or as needed.
  • Responsible to research and prepare variance analyses and explanations on a monthly basis for various accounts as needed.
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Compile supplementary information to support required disclosures in our external financial reports.
  • Assess transactions for proper accounting treatment and prepare relevant schedules as necessary to support accounting journal entries (e.g., leases, debt and capital transactions, etc.).
  • Monitor compliance with debt covenants.
  • Respond to ad-hoc accounting queries.
  • Coach and train staff accountant as needed.
  • Ownership of Blackline maintenance for account reconciliations and monthly close checklist.
  • Assist with various treasury tasks as requested.
  • Improve accounting processes to streamline the monthly close process.
  • Help support requests for documentation from our external auditors.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by reporting manager.


Education, Registration & Certification:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA preferred, but not required


Experience:



  • 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting, mix of public and industry is preferred.
  • Experience in life sciences is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a publicly traded company is preferred, but not required.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:



  • Knowledge of US GAAP accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Detail oriented with the flexibility to meet reporting requests on short notice.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, etc.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of SAP S4 Hana is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Blackline is a plus.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and collaborate to resolve issues.
  • Willingness to assume additional responsibility and learn new skills.
  • Proactive in streamlining processes and tasks


Physical Demands and Work Environment:



  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets. This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


Travel Requirements:



  • Up to 15% travel is expected.
