Full Range: $17.00 - $25.00 hourly

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

As the Medical Front Office Assistant, you will be the first smiling face to meet and greet everyone coming through the door! Your role will be to provide front desk assistance and support to patients and clinical staff in the Tuberculosis (TB) Clinic.

We Require

  • Six months of experience working in a medical or clinical setting performing the duties of a front office assistant or front office medical assistant

  • High school diploma or GED

  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

  • An Associate degree in a business-related field

  • One or more years of experience working in a medical or clinical setting performing the duties of a front office assistant or front office medical assistant

  • Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR) system

Job Contributions

  • Greet patients, confirm patient identity, obtain patient demographic information and records, and update patient information in an electronic medical record

  • Answer telephones, assist callers, and direct calls/messages to appropriate staff

  • Schedule and reschedulepatient appointments

  • Place telephone calls to remind patients of upcoming appointments

  • Resolve conflicts with patient appointments and scheduling

  • Manage filing and record-keeping activities

  • Follow established processes to check a patient in for an appointment

  • Ensure that the patient meets all requirements before the medical appointment, such as providing signed consent forms, signed patient rights forms, and proper identification

  • Assist in processing patient referrals for outside diagnostic procedures, such as CT Scans, MRIs, and X-rays

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed indoors in an office setting

  • Must be able to interact with a diverse population and work in a team environment

  • Performing duties with accuracy and attention to detail are critical while handling interruptions

  • Must be able to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and respond as directed in a public emergency

  • Within one month of hire, all employees must provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health

  • Required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza. Some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
