Certified Medical Assistant - Pierce Street General Surgery / Gastro

Sioux City, Iowa

Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm

**$5,000.00 Sign-on Bonus for External Candidates paid over 12 months.


Responsibilities

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team and assist in delivering quality patient care. Our team is focused on providing top-notch care in general surgery and gastroenterology. Our dedicated team works together to support our patients' health and well-being through skilled, compassionate care.

In this role you will provide direct patient support by assisting physicians and nurses with clinical and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have experience in an ambulatory clinic setting and demonstrate strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, taking vital signs and documenting patient histories.
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures, including room setup, patient positioning, and sterilizing instruments.
  • Administer injections and assist with wound care under the direction of the physician.
  • Collect and process lab specimens as needed for gastroenterology procedures.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments, tests, and referrals to specialists.
  • Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure care, medications, and other instructions.
  • Maintain exam rooms, ensuring they are stocked and organized with necessary supplies.
  • Accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Certified Medical Assistant program.
Certification: Active CMA certification (AAMA, AMT, or similar).
Experience: Previous experience in a general surgery, gastroenterology, or related specialty clinic is preferred.
Skills: Proficient with EMR systems, strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal communication, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
