The anticipated salary range for this role is between $97,000.00and $143,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

SUMMARY:

As a Business Intelligence Associate for Product, you will work to enable self-service data and reporting to drive strategy and measure performance against KPIs specific to our retail banking products. You will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and tracking data requirements, working with data and reporting pipelines supporting multiple retail product lines. Your role involves making data available to leaders across the company, ensuring that reports are understandable by all stakeholders. This position includes opportunities to collaborate closely with stakeholders across various domains and at all levels.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIIES:
  • Metrics and Reports: Design, develop, iterate, and maintain key metrics, reports, analyses, pipelines, and dashboards to support key business decisions within the retail banking sector.
  • Business Requirements: Gather business requirements to define the business problem, data, and reporting needs specific to retail product delivery.
  • Data Visualization: Apply data visualization best practices to deliver intuitive and useful reporting, integrating data analysis into reports and presentations focused on retail products.
  • Reporting Tools: Own reporting tools and dashboards to ensure consistent availability and accuracy of data related to retail banking.
  • Datasets: Develop requirements for building and maintaining datasets that will represent the source of truth for key metrics within the retail product delivery domain.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with senior business leaders to understand retail banking problems, translate them into analytic approaches, and partner to create ongoing data tools.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate findings to a wide range of internal business stakeholders to facilitate learning, prioritization, and action within the retail banking context.
  • Training: Train developers and end-users on platform best practices, encouraging internal adoption and self-sufficiency of stakeholders on the visualization platform.
  • Partnership: Partner with key stakeholders on KPI reports development and tracking across the retail banking organization.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Become a Subject Matter Expert for platforms and key data elements relevant to retail product delivery.
  • Self-Service and Data Literacy: Drive self-service and data literacy for business users on our data platform by creating and documenting data structures and sets, SQL and data tools training, and dashboard development specific to retail banking.
  • Prototyping and Usability: Leverage the value of prototyping, usability, and end-user experience to maximize the impact of the final data visualization product within retail product delivery.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of SQL, including writing and optimizing queries. Advanced experience in Analysis/Business Intelligence Technologies and familiarity with database/analytics tools. Looker Studio experience a plus.
  • Organizational Skills: Superb organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Presentation Skills: Experience in effectively presenting insights and summarizing complex data to diverse audiences through visualizations and other means.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to understand, tackle, and solve problems from both technical and business perspectives, with a focus on retail product delivery.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills with stakeholders at all levels on both technical and business issues within the retail banking sector.
  • Independent Work: Ability to work independently within the scope of responsibilities and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Team Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Documentation: Ability to document work and enable teammates.
  • Retail Banking Knowledge: Must have in-depth knowledge of retail banking and its product delivery processes, familiarity with FIS core banking a plus.
