Position to be performed from our Saddle Brook, NJ office, with opportunity for office and remote work.
Position Description: Manage income tax compliance and planning for federal, state, and international jurisdictions and audits by tax authorities and conduct ASC740 and quarterly reporting to parent company.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create supportive environment to develop high performing tax team and engage in coaching and mentoring.
- Lead tax analysts and other team members, provide timely performance feedback and contribute to performance appraisals utilizing talent management systems.
- Develop and deliver training to staff on department processes.
- Oversee preparation of federal, state, international income tax, and joint venture tax compliance.
- Prepare and review corporate income tax provision for each reporting entity under IAS and GAAP.
- Identify and research complex aspects of tax consequences of company actions; recommend strategies and policies for reporting facts and minimizing tax burden.
- Develop relationships with business unit staff and consultants to facilitate tax compliance and reporting and analyze tax impact of business decisions.
- Implement tax planning strategies or changes due to newly enacted tax law.
- Interact with business units to resolve tax issues and audits.
- Provide recommendations for improving tax related processes.
- Analyze, monitor, and pursue legislative, regulatory, and judicial state tax developments.
- Responsible for analyzing and defending filing positions with taxing jurisdictions.
- Analyze tax controversy matters and implications to Turner business.
- Make recommendations for business changes to adhere to current tax law.
- Advise management of tax consequences and opportunities with ongoing business activities and proposed transactions with emphasis on tax efficiency and compliance with legal requirements.
- Collaborate with consultants to facilitate tax compliance and year-end reporting.
- Responsible to identify and recommend potential planning and refund ideas.
- Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 6 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education or experience, Masters of Tax Degree a plus
- Construction industry experience specifically with tax and project accounting
- Management experience
- Keen analytic ability to assess and interpret trends of large quantities of disparate financial data
- Implement policies and standards for compliance while managing and minimizing financial risk
- Ability to facilitate and implement process improvement ideas
- Ability to manage activities, requests, and short-cycle deadlines simultaneously
- Proficient with financial systems, SAP, OneSource, MS Office, and advanced MS Excel
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion related to all matters
- Efficiently utilize resources to meet company and customer requirements
- Lead by example and set standards for performance and behavior
- Ability to work across functional lines and organizational levels
- Some travel
