Job Summary

The Operations Analyst provides high-level support across administrative, IT, finance, website, and program functions. The incumbent will work closely with the Executive Director, IT Director, Health Education Manager, and Director of Business Operations, to provide support through reporting/research, analysis, planning, and execution. The incumbent will oversee procurement and reimbursement for CPCS and facilitate/maintain Central Office operations.

This position requires discretion and independent judgment as well as working autonomously when problem solving operational issues that are highly sensitive or complex in nature. He/she will need to possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. The candidate must have the ability to work as a reliable and flexible member of multiple teams, handling multiple responsibilities in an environment of shifting priorities.

***NOTE: Some
overnight travel that could include weekends may be required.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $75,700 - $123,100 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The California Poison Control System (CPCS) is a 24 hour-a-day informational and emergency management advice hotline serving residents statewide in California. It is designated by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority and reports to the UCSF School of Pharmacy, Department of Clinical Pharmacy.

CPCS operates from 4 UC-affiliated answering sites (UCSF/ZSFG, UCDMC, Valley Children's Hospital, and UCSD) managing approximately 250,000 calls per year, utilizing the most up-to-date computerized information systems. The hotline service is linked to a translator service with the capability to handle multiple languages on a 24-hour per day basis.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
  • Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
  • Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
  • Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
  • Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
