BH Link Driver (Per Diem)

The BH Link is searching for enthusiastic professionals who are looking to make a positive impact in the Rhode Island community! The BH Link is a 24/7 triage facility providing assessment and referral services for adults experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises. The role of the BH Link Driver is to facilitate streamlined transportation to clients being referred to and from the BH Link facility. Program Drivers are trained to support clients in their transition to and from the program and to coordinate with the rest of the BH Link team throughout a client's triage visit.

Other Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Transport clients to and from the BH Link program.
  • Coordinate with other professionals of the BH Link triage facility and 988 call center to schedule pick-ups and drop-offs.
  • Help to ensure the comfort and safety of clients throughout their visit to BH Link.
  • Provide support for the clinical team and other front-line staff as needed.
  • Document/Log all client transports.
  • Coordinate with the program's Transportation Specialist for the purpose of routine fuel purchases and vehicle maintenance.
  • Participate in routine checks (internal and external) of agency vehicles for the purpose of ensuring client safety.
  • Engaging in client hand-offs during immediate transfers from the BH Link facility to their next step in treatment.
  • Adhering to program and agency standards specific to safe transport practices.

  • Able to apply learned verbal de-escalation techniques with clients in crisis.
  • Works well in a team setting and communicates effectively with other professionals.
  • Proactive and engaged when working with clients and co-workers.
  • Takes direction well and prioritizes client safety.
  • Multilingual professionals are encouraged to apply (and reimbursed accordingly).

Experience and Education:


  • Minimum high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Preferred 1-2 years' experience in human services or other relevant experience
