DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Records Specialist Supervisor for the Department of Corrections, you will be performing specialized supervisory work in the inmate records control program for the institution. You will be responsible for reviewing and certifying computations and parole board re-commitment action changes. This includes computing sentences to verify the accuracy, review, and analysis of legal documents related to sentencing, and recomputing sentences if required. Work is comprised of conducting reviews, interpreting, and classifying court orders relating to commitments, and the related computation of release dates and parole eligibility. Communication will be key as you will be communicating with Department of Corrections staff, inmates, and other agencies regarding sentence structures that were certified through the unit.

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Corrections Records Specialist (Commonwealth job title); or
- One year of experience as a Records Specialist 2 (Commonwealth job title); or
- Four years of clerical or correctional custodial experience that includes two years of specialized records work in a correctional facility; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years of specialized records work experience in a correctional facility.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirement:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
