LOCATION: Downers Grove DEPARTMENT: Production JOB TITLE: N.O. Line 3 Packaging Bake Shop Helper/Day off Relief WORKDAY GRADE LEVEL: H003 BASE RATE PER HOUR: $22.45 ($22.45-$25.25) SHIFT: 3rd # OF OPENINGS: 1 HOURS: Generally, starts as early as 10:45 PM until finish. Overtime and weekend work as needed. Starting times and hours may vary depending on coverage due to report-offs and the production schedule especially during holidays. Good attendance and punctuality required. JOB SUMMARY/JOB DUTIES: Covers various positions on Line 3 Packaging for breaks, lunches, call offs, and vacations. Positions covered include Bake Shop Helper, Break Lunch Relief, Slicer Feeder, and Bagger Caser. Must follow 100% compliance to HACCP, CTS, Safety, GMPs, and SOPs and can work successfully with minimal supervision. May have earlier start time when needed. Other duties as assigned. Bake Shop Helper: Covers Bagger Caser Operator and Slicer Feeder for breaks and lunches. See specific job descriptions for each of these positions. Responsible for monitoring, recording, and maintaining product quality standards. Operator may be called upon to assist other Line 3 positions during operation, and cover for vacations in any of these positions as necessary. Slicer Feeder: Feeds bread into Slicers at an approximate rate of 55 loaves per minute. Continuously monitors the size, quality and weight of bread, reporting any variances to Supervision. Must start/stop Wrapper and Slicer according to line needs. Watches for and unjams bread on the Hartman slicer and Wrapper infeed. Checks for correct number of slices of bread. Bagger Operator/Caser: Checks bread quality. Cases product into baskets/cases, keeping up with line speed. Sets up and operates the Bagger and associated conveyors and guides. Responsible for monitoring, recording and maintaining product quality standards; proper wrap, bag print quality, bag closure, and proper product coding. Monitors bags for proper type (inclusive of checking label revision on bags). Must understand procedural aspects of product coding and code board. Speed and manual dexterity required. Racking and unracking bread as needed. May be called upon to assist other Line 3 positions during operation and other duties as requested. Unassigned Makeup and Packaging Bake Shop Helper may be assigned to any of the following makeup and packaging positions on any line (see Supervisor for specific job descriptions): Makeup helper, Moulder Operator, Divider Operator, Oven Operator, Lidder, Pan Operator/Pan Area, Slicer/Feeder, Bagger, Caser, or Packaging helper. Racks products as needed, monitors bags and check for quality of product and packaging materials. Speed, manual dexterity, bending and lifting required. May stand in one position for prolonged period. Move pan trucks weighing up to 1500 lbs. Able to maintain specific product weights at the divider. Setup the oven and proofer per product centerlining and CTS. May lift up to 50 lbs. May be assigned to any of the packaging lines. Operates the bagger and kwik-lok machines, cases product into baskets or cases keeping up with the line speed. Monitors bags and codes for clarity and correctness. Checks for quality, proper wrap and bagging. Must understand code board. Feeds product into slicer or bagger flites. Racks and unracks bread as needed. May be called upon to assist other positions during operation and other duties as requested. Employees' approved vacation subject to change when bidding to a new area. There will be a 90-day evaluation period to ensure satisfactory performance. Must stay on the job one year. SUPERVISOR: Ariel Alexander, Supervisor on Duty Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
