DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Food Service Workers perform routine work in the preparation of meals and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Veterans Home. Your responsibilities encompass cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing trays, measuring portions, serving food, and transporting trays, carts, and nourishment. This role also involves operating various kitchen equipment, such as mixers, dicers, slicers, knives, and grinders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment, 8.0 hours per day, 40 hours biweekly
  • Work hours are 2nd shift (11:30 AM to 8:00 PM) rotating days and weekends, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Hourly Rate: In some cases, the hourly rate may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualification (not required):

  • Previous food service work experience preferred.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.

    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
