DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position will help review permits submitted in the Northwest Regional Office Clean Water Program. This involves solving various engineering problems and applying engineering principles in the field of environmental protection. As a trainee, the incumbent will participate in a one-year formal training learning the processes completed by a Civil Engineer (General). Furthermore, the applications reviewed will pertain to industrial wastewater and sewage. The incumbent will learn how to calculate limitations, provide rationale, and prepare a Fact Sheet with information regarding the permit application. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Meadville.
- Salary: Most selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $63,590.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of civil engineering experience, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or in a closely related field, which includes or was supplemented by major course work in civil engineering; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes possession of an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position also requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
