(Venue Ambassador)

Do you love sports and want a career in Marketing? The City of Peoria is hiring for Marketing Intern Leads (Venue Ambassadors) at Peoria Sports Complex for the 2025 Spring Training season. This is a "hands on" opportunity with a variety of responsibilities and provides opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain experience in the field of Sports Marketing & Management during the Spring Training season. The Marketing Lead Intern working at the Peoria Sports Complex will get Major League Baseball experience with not one, but TWO MLB teams - the San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners. This position is responsible for developing new social media marketing concepts, assisting in the operation of Peoria Sports Complex social media accounts, gameday photography, and stadium & event management functions. There may be opportunities for the Marketing Lead Intern to gain exposure in the sales, ticketing, and production side of the operations as well. The Marketing Lead Intern primarily assists the Marketing & Sales Department as necessary during Spring Training Baseball games; however, the Peoria Sports Complex is a TEAM environment so from time to time, the Marketing Lead Intern may be asked to assist other departments.

The full hiring range for this position is $14.73 - $18.41

Regular duties will include:

  • Support staff in monitoring the quality assurance of essential stadium functions including concessions, facility maintenance, and guest services to promote an event-ready and fan-friendly ballpark.
  • Assist with game day operations functions including but not limited to entry gate setups and breakdowns, game day magazine deliveries, table and chair placements, pre and post stadium cleanliness checks and participation in operational meetings.
  • Assist in the implementation of marketing and season ticket sales campaigns to maximize event awareness and exposure.
  • Assist and implement ticket sales-driven promotions on sites such as Facebook, X (Twitter), and Instagram, as well as develop key marketing campaigns using viral marketing techniques.
  • Create and oversee content for multiple social media marketing channels while driving social media engagement through fan interaction experiences including register-to-wins, fan polls, etc.
  • Assist in the development of social media content calendars for the Spring Training season.
  • Manage pregame, in-game and postgame social media posts across channels.
  • Discover ways to amplify social content via media partners, influencers, etc.
  • Carry out all assigned duties and responsibilities, including additional tasks as needed to help achieve the overall goal of a successful season and department.

Expectations:

  • Ability to work a minimum of 3 games/15 hours per week (including one game M-Thursday).
  • Ability to commit to a schedule and if they can't make it they will find their own substitution.
  • Ability to be able to run in-game promotions with limited to no supervisions.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • Strong knowledge working with Adobe Creative Cloud, with an emphasis on Lightroom, Photoshop and Adobe Premiere (preferred).
  • Proficiency with social media outlets such as Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, blogs and mobile applications
  • Excelling time management and organizational skills with ability to successfully prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and quickly adapt to change while maintaining high levels of productivity and effectiveness under pressure.
