Lead Community Mental Health Trainer (Semel Institute, PMHP)

The Semel Institute is seeking to hire a full time Lead Community Mental Health Trainer (CMHT) to develop, conduct, and assist in the evaluation of trainings for Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) mental health professionals working in the Homeless Outreach and Mobile Engagement (HOME) team on evidence-based treatment approaches for adults with severe mental illness in Los Angeles County. The Lead CMHT will be responsible for providing technical assistance to community providers working on the HOME team. Trainings may address topics such as, trauma, improving access to mental health services, and enhancing engagement with complex clients experiencing homelessness. Trainings may also include modules on quality monitoring, quality improvement, and program evaluation including using qualitative and quantitative data. Job duties will include:

• Advanced degree in a mental health related field (MSW, Ph.D., MA, Psy.D, Ph.D. or Ed.D.)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to provide training to mental health professionals
• Demonstrated knowledge of ethnography, qualitative data collection and analysis, and dissemination of such analysis
• Demonstrated knowledge of the HOME program or similar programs (e.g., Housing First)
• Ability to communicate complex information to people with varying levels of education and training and different learning styles
• Experience leading trainings for clinical staff and administrative staff
• Ability to provide clinical support for staff at remote sites who are dealing with challenging cases and caseloads
• Demonstrated excellence in training curriculum development
• Experience in developing educational materials for dissemination through an Internet-based platform
• Skill in keeping accurate records, demonstrated attention to detail.
• Skill in developing rapport with individuals from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds
• Demonstrated ability to learn and follow study protocols
• Knowledge of the mental health issues impacting families of those with severe mental illness
• A track record of ethical and professional behavior
• Ability to work effectively and closely with other members of the project team
• Demonstrated ability to conduct resourceful problem solving
• Ability to work flexible hours
• Must have valid driver's license, auto insurance, and/or access to an automobile or viable transportation
• Willingness to travel to service delivery sites to deliver training throughout LA County
• Familiarity with collaborative workgroup and reporting tools, including Salesforce, Access, and SharePoint
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to operate personal computers
