DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Director of Alumni Regional Clubs manages the regional and global clubs and ambassadors to advance the mission and goals of UC San Diego Alumni. This position reports directly to the Senior Director, Alumni Engagement and Volunteer Management and works collaboratively with colleagues in Alumni.

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director is to manage and lead alumni regional and global clubs and ambassadors and their respective volunteers, help implement strategy to foster a world-class volunteer engagement experience for all UC San Diego alumni engagement current and prospective volunteers, key strategist for the alumni club signature programs including but not limited to Triton Welcome Events, Service Initiatives, Lifelong Learning and Professional Development programs, Athletic/Spirit programs, and Global 5K, as well as serve the dynamic needs of volunteers and regional clubs for meaningful engagement and service to UC San Diego. These clubs will create meaningful relationships with alumni and commitment to the University. Works collaboratively with Alumni colleagues to recruit and steward volunteers for key programs including, but not limited to regional and global clubs and ambassadors. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and campus policies and procedures. Plans, develops and implements strategies for specific programs, events, policies, constituency groups, etc. Assignments typically include a wide range of external and alumni relations issues and constituencies.

The incumbent fosters strong working relationship with volunteers and regional clubs to advance alumni participation goals; and, provides input for the creation and dissemination of relevant and timely communication in collaboration with Marketing & Digital Outreach colleagues in Alumni.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Thorough knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and procedures of building and maintaining effective relations with alumni, internal and key constituencies.

  • Thorough written, verbal and interpersonal communications, tact and political acumen to effectively represent the campus.

  • Thorough research, analytical and critical thinking skills, including sound judgment and decision-making skills and skill to correctly identify real and potential problems, advising management as required, and proposing effective strategic resolutions.

  • Skill in project management, including event planning and meeting deadlines.

  • Creative ability to conceptualize, develop and implement programmatic activities from only very general guidelines.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively advise, motivate, and communicate with volunteers. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direction to volunteers in accomplishing established goals and objectives.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the basic principles and practices of marketing.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of accepted accounting principles and practices and experience in drafting and overseeing a program budget.

  • Demonstrated understanding of philosophy of quality service and group process, with proven aptitude for working as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated competency and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
