In support of this mission, CPS seeks an outstanding individual to be the Faculty Affairs Specialist. This mission-critical position on the Academic Affairs team reports to the Director, Academic Programs and Experiential Learning and will also work closely with the Associate Dean, Academic Affairs.

The Faculty Affairs Specialist will typically independently provide enhanced support and problem-solving to process faculty appointments and faculty personnel actions. The core responsibilities of this role are to hire and onboard new and returning temporary part-time faculty; counsel and advise deans and department chairs on personnel actions like contract review, tenure, and promotion; to respond to inquiries and review and evaluate dossiers and other documentation; to manage the faculty recruitment process and review all aspects of full-time faculty personnel procedures; to initiate and approve all changes in the reporting system where appropriate; to participate in faculty merit process; and to perform research and prepare reports for leadership. The Faculty Affairs Specialist will also process supplemental compensation and vendor registration/invoicing for faculty and independent contractors working for the college. The Faculty Affairs Specialist will collaborate with the CPS Academic Affairs team, central University Faculty Affairs team, and Faculty Personnel Offices.

The Faculty Affairs Specialist will also investigate and resolve general and more complex issues relating to faculty appointments such as pay, salary, job assignment, title, appointment letters, etc., and will respond to requests for information. This role may also provide support for faculty searches, may assist with course scheduling and tuition rate assignment, and may provide other specialized and knowledgeable support to Faculty and Administrators. The Faculty Affairs Specialist for CPS will also be expected to coordinate with and support faculty curriculum committees.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. This is a hybrid position with some days remote and some days on-campus. This position will be located in Washington, DC and Arlington, VA.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of working effectively in a higher education environment.
  • Exceptional customer service and collaboration mentality.
  • Experience working in a recruitment environment or as a Human Resources generalist/specialist with recruitment responsibilities.
  • Faculty recruitment experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills are strongly preferred, both written and verbal.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines, including managing the needs of multiple departments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, specifically Excel, and Google Workspace.
  • Experience in Banner, PA7, or similar applicant tracking systems and people information systems.

Hiring Range $57,553.66 - $79,165.63
