In support of the Institute Strategic Plan, the Office of Institutional Research and Planning seeks to promote a culture of deliberate innovation through data practices and using analytic tools to drive decision-making. Specifically, we focus on four primary areas: (1) Data Curation and Support, (2) Research Support, (3) Planning Support, and (4) Decision Support and Data Science. Our focus coincides with the focus areas of Georgia Techs Institute Strategic Plan in the following areas: Amplify Impact Lead by Example and Champion Innovation

Job Summary

The IRP Data Management Spec role will understand, extract, and analyze data and the use of data from various systems on campus including BANNER, Enterprise Data Warehouse, Peoplesoft, other ERP systems and external systems. Providing data for requests and ensuring data security protocols are in place for all data released from IRP staff.

This position will interact on a regular basis with unit management, enterprise team, analysts, data service administrators, internal and external customers

This position may or may not supervise

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Manage data projects, processes and protocols to ensure security, reliability, and efficiency within the IRP department.

Job Duty 2 -
Assist with data reports, surveys, data extraction and data mining.

Job Duty 3 -
Consult and advise end users on the use and interpretation of data, collaborates as appropriate with data customer in the structuring and development of data requirements.

Job Duty 4 -
Programs, debugs, and runs a variety of scheduled and ad hoc listings, summaries, statistics and other presentation reports.

Job Duty 5 -
Communicates data issues within the Enterprise Data Warehouse with the EDM team.

Job Duty 6 -
Provide guidance and/or supervision to other members of the IRP team on extraction of data.

Job Duty 7 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, Business, Marketing Research, Statistics, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications
The job requires one who is task and detail toiiveted; flexible, and able to perftom multiple, various tasks concurrivetly. Excellivet communications skills are required as well as the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems that are varied t nature.

Required Experience
Five to seven years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to implement and troubleshoot programming changes and modifications. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to verify data input and correct errors. Ability to interact in a collaborative team environment. Knowledge of database construction, management, and retrieval methods. Knowledge of computer data processing principles. Knowledge of mathematics. Knowledge of BANNER, higher education business processes.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree from an institution of higher education in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, or related field.

Preferred Experience
Five to seven years of job-related experience in higher education.

Proposed Salary

Annual salary range: $90,979 to $95,000

ABILITIES
The job requires one who is task and detail oriented, flexible, and able to manage and execute various tasks concurrently

KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of integrated information systems and reporting practices. Ability to analyze data from large databases, knowledge of advanced query, reporting, statistical analysis and data mining. Demonstrated understanding of the research data lifecycle from the data acquisition to curation and the tools used to manage those data throughout the process. Knowledge of structured programming, testing, and debugging techniques. Excellent interpersonal skills, strong team-orientation, and professional attitude. Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Strong project planning, management and execution skills. Self-motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges and solve problems.

SKILLS
Excellent written and communication skills as well as the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve complex issues
