About Salesforce

We're Salesforce, the Customer Company, inspiring the future of business with AI+ Data +CRM. Leading with our core values, we help companies across every industry blaze new trails and connect with customers in a whole new way. And, we empower you to be a Trailblazer, too - driving your performance and career growth, charting new paths, and improving the state of the world. If you believe in business as the greatest platform for change and in companies doing well and doing good - you've come to the right place.

Role Description:

At Salesforce, we put customers first and strive to spotlight their success. We believe in the power of storytelling to inspire and educate, and we're on the lookout for a passionate individual who can bring customer success stories to life. Join a dynamic team that showcases the transformative use of Salesforce technology.

As the Director of Customer Story Development, you'll play a crucial role in capturing and showcasing our customers' most impactful use cases and successes with Salesforce to influence buying behavior and position Salesforce as a leader in agent-first enterprise transformation. As the right hand to the Sr. Director of Customer Story Development, you'll help set the bar for exceptional customer storytelling by ensuring every story across film, web, events, and more is technical, specific, differentiated, and captures the Salesforce advantage through the lens of the customer. You will lead by example with your initiatives and outputs and coach and elevate others through feedback. This role is perfect for a creative and collaborative individual who excels in customer engagement and storytelling - and loves to do the work.

Responsibilities:

  • Story Development: Create customer stories that align to the latest messaging and showcase inspiring use cases that are clear, differentiated, and relatable.

  • Team Feedback and Coaching: Support the Sr. Director as a primary reviewer and editor of the team's story deliverables to enforce a high bar of quality, execution, and speed. Help the story development colleagues focus on the right messages, structure, and level of depth so they improve with every deliverable.

  • Stakeholder Management: Ensure stories align with broader business goals and expectations. Develop trust and strong partnerships with senior leaders and executive sponsors across Marketing, Product, and Sales to capture and action feedback.

  • Customer Engagement: Conduct in-depth interviews with customers to extract detailed use cases, document challenges, and articulate impactful solutions and outcomes. Build and maintain trusted relationships with customers to ensure their stories are told effectively.

  • Cross-team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams, including marketing, creative, product, and sales, to ensure a cohesive and strategic approach to storytelling and a consistent story across web, film, events, and more.

Job Requirements:

  • Marketing/Storytelling Experience: 12-15+ years' experience in marketing, communications, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on technical product marketing, customer engagement, and SaaS.

  • Technical Storytelling Expertise: A curiosity about storytelling, particularly in capturing technical use cases into marketable narratives that engage, persuade, and are easy to understand. Exceptional ability to communicate sophisticated technical details in a clear, compelling manner.

  • Independent and Adaptable: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, keeping up with industry trends and technological advancements. Proficient in outbound outreach, skilled in handling objections, and adept at finding mutually beneficial scenarios through understanding and negotiation.

  • Startup Mentality: A drive, eagerness, and composure to adapt quickly, try new ways of working, and navigate changing requirements with an adaptable and solutions-focused approach.

  • "Must Love the Job": This role will start as an IC, and daily activities will include hands-on deliverables across writing in-depth documents, editing web stories, reviewing films, coaching directors, interviewing customers, creating slides, and much more. You must love both the development and execution of great stories to succeed in this role.

Preferred Skills:

  • Salesforce Knowledge: Experience with Salesforce products and the broader SaaS and B2B technology landscape, and a drive to keep learning.

  • Corporate Storytelling: Able to thread company narrative, executive direction, customer goals, technology, industry trends, and more together in a compelling narrative that influences perception and buying behavior.

  • Consulting, agency, or executive communications background: Experience navigating a constantly evolving landscape and engaging effectively with executive stakeholders as your customer.

  • Salesforce User Experience: Experience being an end-user of Salesforce technology, such as Sales Cloud, Slack, Tableau, etc.

  • Curiosity and Excellence: Constant curiosity to seek the most exciting aspects of stories and a high bar for excellence in all work.

  • Relationship Building: Experience in building and cultivating relationships, both with customers and internal team members. Able to effectively navigate objections and find win-win scenarios.

This role is hybrid and connects onsite 3 days per week.
