* Base Pay Range: $68,266 - $111,426, based on experience

The Planning & Project Specialist I provides consultation, interpretation, and analysis of data related to business development, service-line planning, program proposals, and other initiatives as directed. Assumes responsibility for information management systems utilized in planning and strategic development activities. Responsible for monitoring, understanding, and communicating external environmental trends that may impact the organization.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Compile, analyze, and present data to support the organization's strategic and business planning functions. Incorporate data visualizations, GIS, or other mapped data in reports, and presentations as appropriate, to aid in the representation of market and competitive information.

Prospectively monitor national and regional trends, and market intelligence, and develop and maintain an archive of resources, project documents, contacts, and other data for departmental reference. Perform competitive intelligence gathering, and analysis and provide responsive reporting.

Develop written business reviews for proposed product lines, clinical programs, and additional service sites for executive administration. Assist in integrating market data with internal data generated by other relevant departments (e.g., Finance, Quality, etc.).

Conduct special market, business trend, and service line analyses as well as other special projects as assigned. Participate in the development and regular production of standard reports, scorecards, and other business/strategic communications. Develop ad-hoc reports, extracting relevant data, and presenting information in a clear, organized fashion.

Analyze trends and relationships among performance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement. Contribute conceptual thinking, develop, and implement new metrics, or modify existing metrics for performance scorecards and related management reports for distribution to middle and upper management. Forecast future business volumes based on market and organizational trend data.

Assist MU Health Care staff as requested, demonstrating excellent customer service with each interaction. Collaborate and communicate with other members of Planning & Business Development to assist with effective and efficient completion of projects and participate in performance improvement projects.

Assist project leaders in coordinating the deployment of deliverables associated with business plans, financial reviews, and market assessments.

Perform analyses define and document business requirements and translate them to functional specifications early in the business planning cycle.

Help with the development of market assessments, business plans, and tactical approaches to business planning for assigned service lines.

May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in health administration, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.

Three (3) years of experience in health care with an emphasis on strategic business planning.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in health administration, business administration, health informatics, or a related field.

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
