Position Summary
This position is responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategic transfer academic support at the University of Georgia. The position serves as the primary academic point of contact for prospective feeder institution representatives, and UGA staff/faculty who advise transfer students, and uses a data-driven, collaborative approach to facilitate transfer student retention, efficient time to degree, and a seamless transfer student experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree * Experience working in higher education * Experience collaborating with external constituents * Experience working with transfer students * Experience in an Advising, Registrar, or Admissions Office, or other related field * Experience researching, interpreting, and applying policies and procedures * Experience compiling data and preparing reports * Experience prioritizing and managing several projects simultaneously and successfully * Experience using on-line database systems

Academic Transfer Point of Contact for the University of Georgia

  • Serve as partner and liaison with University System of Georgia institutions to facilitate an easier and more seamless transition for students by:

    • Contributing to UGA-relevant updates to the GA Transfer portal
    • Developing relationships and open lines of communication with academic advising representatives from feeder USG institutions to enhance the transfer process for students
    • Engaging USG transfer-related conversations as appropriate



  • Serve as a resource for University of Georgia schools, colleges, and campus partners in determining appropriate interpretation and application of university policies and procedures as they relate to transfer credit, the transcript, and the degree audit in collaboration with the Office of Admissions and the Office of the Registrar.
  • Instruct of the advising certificate transfer student courses offered through UGA's Learning & Development program.

Transfer Resource Innovation & Maintenance
  • Provide leadership, innovation, technical oversight, and maintenance for University transfer-related academic resources such as:

    • A comprehensive Transfer Handbook that provides checklists, outlines transfer protocols, addresses common barriers of transfer enrollment and supports transfer students in their transition to UGA
    • Maintain and publish a list of relevant transfer campus contacts for students (both current and prospective), staff, and faculty
    • The digital transfer credit evaluation tool for evaluation of course syllabi
    • Transfer.uga.edu - ensure the website is easy to navigate, well-organized, and transfer-student friendly

Duties/Responsibilities
Dual Enrollment & Prospective Transfer Academic Advising Support

  • Serve as academic advising point of contact for Dual Enrolled student population at the University of Georgia
  • Provide direct academic advising support to incoming and current Dual Enrolled student population & maintain a caseload of Dual Enrolled advisees
  • Partner with Exploratory Center advisors in the support and advisement of Dual Enrolled students
  • Assist Dual Enrolled students with academic transition from high school to college
  • Chair Dual Enrolled Student Working Group and facilitate conversations and collaboration amongst relevant campus partners to improve dual enrollment processes, policies, and procedures
  • Facilitate an easier and more seamless transfer process by offering individual pre-transfer academic planning support for prospective transfer students
  • Respond to transfer student inquiries and questions via email and phone
  • Serve as staff advisor for Tau Sigma Honor Society

  • Catalog relevant transfer academic policies, processes, and procedures
  • In collaboration with the Office of Admissions and the Office of the Registrar, establish a process for the regular review of transfer-related academic practices, policies, and procedures, and suggest potential actions and interventions to affect improvement
  • Facilitate student focus groups and surveys to ensure the right resources and information are provided
