Tepper faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their research in a variety of fields, including organizational behavior and theory, economics, finance, and accounting. Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business is searching for an Associate Director to join their Masters Admissions team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing support by assisting in the management and oversight of specific recruiting programs and events that engage with potential student applicants. This position will recruit and advise prospective students for admission and evaluate applicants for an admission decision. Core responsibilities include:
Attends recruitment events in select cities, both internal and domestic, to increase Tepper's Masters Programs visibility and attract higher quality applicants. Meets with visiting prospective students to advise them on graduate management education opportunities at Carnegie Mellon. Serves as the lead recruiter for candidates from special populations (women, underrepresented people of color, veterans, LGBTQIA+, and others) to Tepper's Masters Programs. Works with Sr. Associate Director to coordinate events such as Campus Visits, Open Houses, Spotlight Events and provide support for Diversity Weekend, Welcome Weekend and other major events. Manages recruitment, selection and supervision of 13 MBA Office Fellows whose primary responsibilities are prospective student outreach and supporting the Campus Visits program. Works with the external partner organizations and with current students as it relates to recruiting activities Manages Student Ambassadors in support of admissions recruiting goals. Serves as the point of contact for soliciting Student Ambassadors to work with the admission team in recruiting students to the Tepper MBA and MS programs. Conducts behavioral interviews as part of the candidate evaluation. Evaluates MBA and MS applications and makes recommendations for action to the Admissions Committee. This includes analyzing and synthesizing a large amount of often conflicting data (including undergraduate transcript, test scores, professional history, letters of recommendation, extracurricular involvement, essays, and interview report), and proving the necessary evaluative information in the review of foreign credentials. Makes an admission recommendation to the Admission Committee. Establishes priorities, then plans and implements own and/or unit work. May delegate or share appropriate responsibilities to enhance departmental effectiveness. Responsible for providing professional support to the Sr. Associate Director by managing special projects and assists in the development and implementation of recruiting/yield initiatives, process changes, publications or events. As required, writes promotional pieces, correspondence and other papers to support recruiting efforts. Troubleshoots problems and questions concerning Admissions and other university policies and procedures. Answers almost all questions or corrects most problems directly. Only the most difficult issues and questions are referred to the supervisor. With input from the next level of management, establishes departmental goals for which the incumbent is responsible. Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required 5-8 years of academic recruiting and/or academic admissions experience required A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
