Job Description

You will help design and perform tests at a new 100-acre test site in rural Missouri. The primary focus of the research will be to measure the baseline response of state-of-the-practice soldier protection measures as a function of kinetic and non-kinetic sources and test/evaluate new materials that will enable mitigation of effects from mechanical, thermal, and electromagnetic energy deposition. Additional duties will include oversight of experimental tests, publications, and training graduate students. You will collaborate closely with Dr. Johnson and her research group, researching environmental considerations of blasting, fragmentation prediction, biological effects of shock exposure and explosibility of dusts and contribute to proposal writing and funding acquisition.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Hold a PhD degree or to obtain soon a PhD in explosives engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

Significant experience in explosives testing and scientific instrumentation for explosives; experience handling explosives; designing and overseeing tests; strong publication record; good proposal writing experience. Hold or able to obtain a Missouri class C CDL with hazmat endorsement.
