Duties

  • Direct and coordinate the planning, design, development, and implementation of major health care research projects related to Medicaid and CHIP.
  • Plan, propose, and conducts studies and statistical analysis of data related to the Medicaid program and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
  • Prepare analytic products, documents and assists with the development of Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
  • Lead education and outreach efforts on data collection and application of data to program oversight and operations to CMS, states, and other federal government entities.

In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Coordinate the planning, development, design and implementation of healthcare research projects related to Medicaid and CHIP, or an equivalent national level program (i.e. including providing answers to technical questions and responding to data requests and reviewing data for data quality issues); 2) Conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis of Medicaid and CHIP, or an equivalent national level program, data using statistical techniques, including Python, R, or Scala, to provide multiple levels of analytics to internal and external stakeholders for program monitoring, technical assistance, and oversight; 3) Advising on data collection, data quality, and data reporting, including providing technical assistance to states and other stakeholders on submitting and using Medicaid and CHIP data, or an equivalent national level program; AND 4) Experience drafting communication documents to collect, review, evaluate, and report on data for Medicaid and CHIP, or an equivalent national program.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education

Education Requirement: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements, all candidates must have the following educational requirements:

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)

OR

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
