Position Summary:
The Department of
Chemistry & Environmental Science seeks to hire a Sr. University Lecturer to teach forensic science/crime scene investigation courses and serve as
a mentor/ research advisor for students completing their capstone projects.

Essential Functions:
- Primary job responsibilities include teaching and mentoring students in the Forensic Science program.
-Teaching
load is a maximum of four forensic science courses (12-16 credit hours) per
semester, including, but not limited to: introduction to Forensic Science;
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) & lab; and Physical Methods of Forensic
Analysis.
-Develop new CSI courses as needed.
-Preparation
of instructional materials; submission of final grades; holding regularly scheduled office hours; and writing student recommendation letters.
-Background
and ability to teach advanced courses in pattern matching evidence, bloodstain pattern analysis (BPA),forensic photography, crime scene reconstruction, and fingerprint analysis.
-Advise forensic science students on curricular and professional matters, including internship/co-op
placement.
- Engage in industry and outreach events.
-Represent the program at recruitment events, including university open houses.
-Serve as mentor to students in independent research and capstone projects.
-Other duties, as required.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Minimum of a terminal degree in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 10 years experience working in a CSI unit with at least 5 of those years in a supervisory role.
- Prior university teaching experience in forensic science
-Experience in crime scene processing, and crime scene reconstruction.
- Board certified by the International Association of Identification (IAI) in one or more areas.
- Member or Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.
- At the university's discretion, the education and
experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to
the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and
experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
