POSITION SUMMARY:
Driving change using TMS principles as it pertains to material production flow while supervising all Shipping and Receiving personnel, all Material Handlers, and all Subcage personnel. Coordinate the warehouse runs, plan material moves that do not involve outside carrier moves. Participate and lead lean events related to material movement and assist in establishing metrics and accountability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop material processes and systems that support the Plant Operations.
- Arranges in plant transfers of materials to meet production schedules
- Supervise Shipping and Receiving personnel.
- Supervise Material Handlers on all shifts.
- Supervise Subcage personnel on all shifts.
- Responsible for the motivation and development of subordinates to optimize their performance and their personal and professional growth.
- Continuously improve equipment utilization..
- Assist in establishing key metrics for the team and hold accountable to reach the established goals.
- Write standardized work, train to it and team members accountable.
- Monitors/promotes environmental, health, safety, and housekeeping within area of responsibility.
- Other duties as assigned which may include filling in for operations.
- Overtime as required/requested.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish cross-departmental training and back-ups.

CRITICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum one year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Six to 12 months of recent direct experience in supervision.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- APICS application/certification - preferred
- Understanding of ERP planning systems
- Experience with footprint planning, space/lineside utilization and route planning
- Experience with Logistics and Truck Lanes
- Experience applying lean practices for VSM and inventory usage/control
- Experience with process control as it pertains to the control, movement and storage of materials
- Experience working in a fast paced and/or automotive plant with several lines and high part proliferation.
- Ability to make change and improve processes and the utilization of systems/tools/labor
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Office environment - includes, but not limited to, artificial lighting, computers, telephones, desks, temperature controlled.
- Manufacturing environment - includes, but not limited to, artificial lighting, machine/equipment noise, some welding exhaust, non-controlled temperatures, and PPE required.
- Some travel which could include an overnight stay.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to sit frequently for extended periods of time.
- Ability to move about the plant in both the office and manufacturing areas.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
- Manual dexterity for computer work.
- Ability to communicate in an effective manner.
