Project Support Specialist

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Five (5) years of experience scheduling / managing a fleet in a research and academic environment. Demonstrated knowledge of policies and procedures related to environmental health and safety. Experience on a vessel. Experience serving on searches at Stony Brook University. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Possess and maintain CPR and AED Certification.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Project Support Specialist will report directly to the Dean of the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences and will be charged with staffing and keeping the R/V Seawolf operational during a critical period. This position will be roughly five (5) hours per week and is expected to be a short-term position (one year or less).

Responsibilities will include:

• Serve on a search committee to replace the former Port Captain with a Fleet Manager, which is crucial to the continued operation of a growing SoMAS fleet.
• Serve as deckhand as needed to keep vessels operational during a critical period.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
