The Senior Financial & Budget Analyst is responsible for performing highly complex data analysis work. Specifically responsible for assisting in planning and development, presentation, and implementation of the preliminary general budget; conducting qualitative and quantitative financial research to support decision-making and budget development for the College under limited supervision; analyzing historical accounting data and other information to make projections which will aid management in short- and long-range financial planning; assisting in year-end audits; ensuring the accuracy of accounting data; and supporting and collaborating with Executive Director of Babson Executive Education, the Senior Director, Babson Executive Education, and other College leaders.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Assist in the planning and development, presentation, and implementation of the preliminary general budget and capital improvement plan for submission to the Controller of Finance.
  • Research, compile, maintain, and update budgetary and forecast data to provide management with trend analyses and recommendations.
  • Generate various complex monthly, quarterly, and or annual financial reports or queries for executive leadership, management, college leadership, and other department users. Complete necessary financial system transactions to correct variances.
  • Inform management of budget variances, explain causes, and measure impact on department mission and resources.
  • Consult with colleges department managers regarding budget analysis, financial reports, irregular and unusual transactions, and problem resolutions.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial data provided and used for budgetary analysis and reporting. Obtain a great deal of information from various sources interpreting and distinguishing between reliable sources and unreliable sources for specific data analysis.
  • Participate in the five-year financial planning process by preparing ad-hoc reports and financial analysis, as well as reviewing detailed financial models relating to the plan.
  • Prepare, review, and approve monthly and annual financial results, budget, and spending summary for operations. Reconcile Executive Education balance sheet accounts for college financial operations and reconciles college financial system to invoicing systems to ensure all revenue and payments are received and posted.
  • Direct, process, and review all Accounts Payable and Receivables for Babson Executive Education. Accurately reports all payables and receivables including confidential information regarding faculty/consultant compensation and course release information.
  • In collaboration with program leaders, ensure that contracts are in compliance with the College policy to ensure that revenue is being recognized based on GAAP for accounting purposes.
  • Responsible for directing business performance analysis, reporting, and forecasting including managing the department's records in Salesforce and Workday to support the department's effectiveness, financials and metrics to support critical decisions, increase efficiencies, and determine emerging financial trends.
  • Responsible for complete administrative support in grant accounting functions including review and preparation of budgets and amendments; preparation of grant proposals, progress reports, and financial documentation maintenance; monthly recording of expected grant income and expense; developing and maintaining tracking system and reporting mechanisms for grants and the interrelationship of grants; and working with Goldman Sachs on grants, reports, and employee changes.
  • Work with Budget Office's colleagues and all other financial departments including Financial Services and Academic Affairs to ensure proper and efficient processing of all financial activity.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Business).

A minimum of 8-10 years of related experience

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

Must have strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills

Ability to provide strong customer service while adhering to established policies

Must have strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, applied across problems of varying nature and scope

Demonstrated effectiveness in working with a culturally and socially diverse student body, faculty, staff, and other constituents

Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

Must have strong financial skills and attention to detail

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to envision and propose new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A; take thoughtful risks; and accept new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.

Ability to anticipate and embrace change; demonstrate willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.

Ability to prioritize work as well as work independently

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK

Requires work onsite a minimum of 1 day a week (Wednesdays); the on-campus requirement is subject to modification based on organizational need.

Requires the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed during Trustee meeting's planning periods, completing quarterly projections, and finishing major assignments on time and fully.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE

  • Experience with Workday, Adaptive, Salesforce or similar software is required
  • Experience with international business a plus
  • Master's Degree preferred
