In support of the Institute Strategic Plan, the Office of Institutional Research and Planning seeks to promote a culture of deliberate innovation through data practices and using analytic tools to drive decision-making. Specifically, we focus on four primary areas: (1) Data Curation and Support, (2) Research Support, (3) Planning Support, and (4) Decision Support and Data Science. Our focus coincides with the focus areas of Georgia Techs Institute Strategic Plan in the following areas: Amplify Impact Lead by Example and Champion Innovation

Job Summary

The Director- Institutional Research & Data Portfolio Management oversees strategic institutional research, data projects, and multi-department initiatives for Institutional Research & Planning (IRP). This role involves collaborating with institute leadership and project managers to ensure visibility within the IRP portfolio.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Serve at the direction of the Senior Director of Institutional Research and Planning to provide analytical and management support for the IRP data portfolio with a focus on strategic initiatives.

Job Duty 2 -
Provide technical oversight and management for IRP portfolio of work to include executive and institute wide initiatives (e.g., projects, tasks, groups).

Job Duty 3 -
Generate routine project status reports for IRP leadership, strategic initiative leaders, and relevant stakeholders.

Job Duty 4 -
Develop comprehensive documentation for institutional research reports and processes to ensure consistency in data, effective data project management, and accurate institutional research reporting and decision support.

Job Duty 5 -
Analyze and evaluate processes to ensure alignment between IRP operations and the Institute's strategic initiatives.

Job Duty 6 -
Collaborate with IRP senior leadership team to establish systematic methodologies for managing institutional research and data tasks, projects, and information including initiating, tracking, and ensuring the timely fulfillment of all essential institutional research data reporting and decision support.

Job Duty 7 -
Prepare research reports and research briefs including data extraction, data analysis, and data presentation.

Job Duty 8 -
Oversee financial management of IRP operations and institutional research and data project finances, including budget planning and allocation

Job Duty 9 -
Manage direct reports by facilitating institutional research and data task assignment, evaluating performance, goal setting, conducting peer research data checks, providing feedback, making pay recommendations, and leading team meetings.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Analytics, or Computer and Information Technology related fields, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications
Certifications, Licenses or Permits:
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

Required Experience
Ten or more years of job-related experience: 10+ years of relevant experience, includes 5+ years of supervisory experience and 5+ years of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree in Business, Analytics, or Computer and Information Technology related fields, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Proposed Salary

Annual salary: $109,136 to $112,000

ABILITIES
The job requires occasional travel up to 10% or more of the time

KNOWLEDGE
Familiarity and proficiency with querying and data visualization tools (e.g., SQL developer, Toad Data Point, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
