Full Time Description
The Stoughton Area School District is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE District Educational Assistant at River Bluff in the Library Media Center for the 2025 school year. Monday through Friday, 7.0 hours per day during the school year. With an additional up to six (6) extended days. Qualifications
Job Summary: To assist teaching staff in meeting the educational needs of all students.
Reports To: Principal Essential Job Functions: Note: Responsibilities will vary depending on the abilities of the students. 1. Assists in the planning and implementation of instruction to individual and/or small groups of students under the supervision of a teacher. 2. Assist in the preparation of classroom and individual student materials for instruction. 3. Provides personal care and assists students in mastering self-help skills such as toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, etc. when needed. 4. Under the supervision of the special education teacher, reads student IEPs and seeks clarification of contents when needed. 5. Works cooperatively with students, families, staff and administrators to ensure a positive educational environment. 6. Assists in the development and implementation of individual student behavior plans. 7. Promotes acceptance of differences with students, staff and community. 8. Effectively problem solves issues of conflict. 9. May assist in the implementation of community-based and non-school vocational instruction. 10. Performs clerical tasks as necessary. Requirements of Essential Functions: Requirements of Essential Functions: Constant (66%-100%) bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, squatting, reaching, and walking in order to perform essential functions. Lifting: 0-30 pounds constantly (66-100%) 30-40 pounds frequently (34-66%) Over 40 pounds occasionally (1-33%) Marginal Job Functions: 1. Performs medical tasks as required according to physician/school protocol including, but not limited to, administering medication, administering oxygen, tube feeding, catheterization and suctioning. 2. Performs clerical tasks, which include, but are not limited to, typing, copying, preparing and displaying instructional materials. 3. Assists students in activities including, but not limited to, classrooms, study hall, field trips, swimming instruction, lunch room, playground, home bound instruction, community job site and bus duty. 4. Assists students with getting on and off transportation vehicles. This may include supervising students en route. Supervision may extend beyond the school day. 5. Assists students with the use of technology under the supervision of a teacher. 6. Participates in required staff development. 7. Serves as a resource person to the multidisciplinary team and participates in IEP reviews of students when requested. 8. Performs other related miscellaneous job duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: 1. Must have a willingness to work with all students. 2. Must be eligible for state certification as a special education EA. 3. Must have high school diploma or equivalent. 4. Must have or obtain upon employment, first aid and CPR certification. 5. Must have effective communication skills (oral and written) in order to work effectively with parents, students, and staff. 6. General knowledge of computer applications in the classroom is preferred. 7. Completion of 2 years of study at an institution of higher education or an associates degree preferred 8. Complies with the absence policies of the District. Essential job functions are those functions, which are essential to attaining job objectives.
