The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

LOCATION: Locksmith Shop

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 3:30pm - 12:00am

The locksmith shop is responsible for the repair, and service of locks, electronic access equipment, and related hardware.

Responsibilities




  • Performs operations as required by job work order and/or maintenance order in preventive maintenance. Repairs and installs various types of door hardware and general locking devices.



  • Shall be skilled in the use of all hand and power tools used by Carpenters and Locksmiths.



  • Shall have good knowledge of the methods and materials common to both crafts and shall have City of New York Locksmith and Keymaker License.



  • Shall be expert in such specialized operations as setting up locking systems with master and sub-master keying; cutting keys; picking locks; and opening safes and resetting combinations.




Minimum Qualifications




  • High school equivalency. Five (5) years journeymanship in the Carpentry Trade and two (2) years journeymanship in the Locksmith Trade.
