Unit Bio:

If you're looking for a diverse role that allows you to use technical, interpersonal and administrative skills, then a career as a Nursing Unit Secretary might be ideal for you. Unit secretaries play a vital role in the healthcare industry because they support a wide range of individuals, including patients and other medical professionals. The Nursing Unit Secretary performs clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties. The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong customer service skills, effective communication skills, and have the ability to multi-task. Previous experience is required (Three years of secretarial experience with at least one year at MMC).

P6 (Pavilion 6) is the 21 bed Inpatient Psychiatry unit at Maine Medical Center. Over the years it has evolved from a traditional psychiatric unit to one that serves an increasingly medically complex population with a particular emphasis on Geriatric Psychiatry. All patients on P6 have both a major psychiatric illness, as well as a medical comorbidity that requires an inpatient level of care. The ED Annex is a 12 bed section of the Maine Medical Center Emergency Department specializing in the care of patients with psychiatric illnesses in a quieter, more therapeutic environment.

Summary:

The Nursing Unit Secretary II role performs clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties. This role has responsibility for advanced unit involvement in projects and house-wide activities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.

2. License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.

3. Experience: Three years of secretarial experience with at least one year within MaineHealth required. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Nursing Unit Secretary I role.
