DepartmentOverview: The Cardiothoracic Operating Room (CTOR) is part of the larger Surgical Services department at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Overall, there are 14 ORs, 2 minor surgery rooms, 6 procedure rooms, and 2 C-section suites. There are 2 dedicated CTORs, one Hybrid OR, and one Robotic OR where CTS cases are performed. The Surgical Tech will work with a multi-disciplinary team of Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants and Registered Nurses. Cases Performed: *- CABG (On/Off/Pump-assist) *- Valvuloplasty *- Maze *- Intra-operative Ablation (Atricure and Cryo) *- Pericardial Window *- Aneurysm repair and grafting *- TAVR *- Thoracic (VATs/Thoracotomy) *- Robotic Thoracic *- Laser-Lead ExtractionChat with our Cardiovascular Technology Recruiter every Wednesday from 11:30am to 12:30pm EST. Click here link below to register for the virtual chat Surgical Technologists will aid the surgeon and operating room nurse in preparing for and performing surgeries. Surgical tech prepares operating room instrument set up for the procedure. Will help prepare patient and pass surgical instruments and supplies to the surgeon during the surgery. Surgical Tech knows the specific uses of all equipment & supplies used for surgical procedures. Anticipates the needs of the surgeon during the procedure and displays dexterity of the required instrumentation. Surgical Tech sees safety and efficient performance of the surgical procedure, tracks instruments and supplies and sees that all equipment is accounted for after the surgery. Surgical Tech identifies emergency situations and uses sound judgement in a calm & efficient manner. Will be responsible for cleaning and stocking the operating room for the next procedure.

Virginia Surgical Techs are required to be Licensed with the VBOM. NBSTSA or NCCT certification accepted. Licensed Surgical Technologist - State license - Other/National Required. Licensed Surgical Technologist - State license - North Carolina Preferred.
