THE POSITION

Are you ready to rise to the challenge of beginning level technical field work in tax compliance investigation, enforcement, collections, and public education work regarding tax laws and regulations? Bring your skills to the Department of Revenue in the role of a Field Enforcement Agent 1 and help keep businesses accountable with our team!


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will assist experienced agents in the field to gain the technical knowledge and abilities necessary for conducting investigations into suspected violations of business, motor and alternative fuel, and tobacco taxes. Work relies on keen observation and communication skills as you learn collection techniques and procedures such as explaining tax rules, regulations, requirements, and penalties in addition to participating in taxpayer education initiatives and outreach programs. You will also participate in field activity to identify unregistered businesses operating without appropriate licenses as well as observe, assist, and conduct investigations, interviews, surveillance, detailed inventories, evaluations of financial statements, the preparation of reports and, if appropriate, citations. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • The selected candidate will be assigned to the Allentown Office, located at 555 Union Boulevard, Suite 4, Allentown, PA 18109.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in tax investigation work; or
  • Four years of experience in collections operations in a business, commercial, industrial, government, or finance office; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must reside in Bucks County.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
