Learning Assistant (Early College High School) (Specially-funded) Job ID: 320802 Location: GateWay Community College Full/Part Time: Full Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Hourly Rate $18.82 - $21.76/per hour; DOE Grade 107 Work Schedule Monday - Friday, 7:45am-3:30pm; some evenings and weekends may be required. (August-May) 5 days per week or 195 days per year. Job Summary GateWay Community College is now hiring a great new role! This position helps the teacher create a positive learning environment. This includes: Lesson preparation: Helping teachers prepare lesson plans and materials, such as collecting materials and setting up equipment Classroom management: Preparing and tidying classrooms for lessons, and minimizing distractions and disruptions Student support: Reviewing material with students, teaching small groups, and providing extra help to students who need it Behavior management: Enforcing school and class rules, and supervising students during non-classroom times Communication: Communicating with parents to keep them informed Additional Information Possession of a valid Level I DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card required. Essential Functions 30% - Providing students with learning assistance, skills development, and tutoring for all high school content. 20% - Assisting students in completing assignments in IXL and Canvas learning platforms. 15% - Monitoring and maintaining student folders, progress information, and related records. 15% - Assist students in understanding and utilizing instructional resources and learning aids. 10% - Provides information and explanation related to grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. 10% - Explains research strategies and assists in developing research assignments; performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Desired Qualifications A. Associate's degree or higher B. Experience with mentoring students to complete a variety of assignments in a high school environment C. Experience using instructional materials and aids to support student learning in a high school environment D. Experience in working with a diverse population of students providing tutoring services in variety of subjects in a high school environment E. Experience using online systems such as Google Suite, Learning Management System (LMS)- Canvas, online tutoring systems for K-12, etc. Special Working Conditions
