In this position, you will protect and guard all assets, staff, patients, and visitors in and around the UCLA Santa Clarita Tourney Road Primary & Specialty Care Clinic, Santa Clarita/Valencia CA Security Officers perform regular patrols and document all routine activities, incidents, and may perform in a lead capacity as well as other duties as assigned. Additionally, you will enforce all policies and state laws, and follow all guidelines including state regulatory agency requirements. You will also ensure that the building is properly secured after closing.
Salary range: $22.47 - $29.09 / Hourly
Qualifications
  • Possess and maintain current certification: Guard Card, D.O.J. Chemical Agent, CPR and driver's license.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely express ideasusing appropriate vocabulary and spelling.
  • Ability to complete continual training classesas required. (Training provided)
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperativeworking relationships with Thousand Oaks Primary & Specialty Careemployees, Management, Security Management, Local Law Enforcement and surroundingcommunity.
  • Ability to independently resolve issues working within set policies and procedures.
  • Ability to know and use available resources in order to solve problems.
  • Ability to operate security related equipmentand general office equipment.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of dealingdiplomatically with the public, and the importance of a good public appearance.
  • Ability to relay information, either inwriting or verbally, in a professional manner.
  • Ability to see aspects of public relations in all facets of the job and the ability to understand the effects of actions onthe entire organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess problematic oremergency situations and plan / execute an appropriate solution based on establishedguidelines or policies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all Security Programoperational policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of applicable geography in order toexpedite calls and to be an effective information source.
  • Knowledge of penal and radio codes and languageused in radio communications.
  • Physical ability to handle various interventionincidents, including patient restraints and violent subjects.
  • Physically able to perform sustained foot patrols, prolonged standing, lifting patients, and physically restrain patients or prisoners as necessary.
  • Visual and hearing ability to detect and report unusual circumstances quickly and accurately.
  • Working knowledge of security practices, protocolsand techniques.
Senate Bill 525 was signed into law by Governor Newsom in October 2023. Starting June 1, 2024, SB525 sets a new $23minimum wage for nonexempt healthcare workers and raises the exempt employee salary threshold to $1,380/week(equivalent to $5,980/month or $71,760/year).

1. As defined under SB525, healthcare workers are defined as employees who are involved in the provision of "health careservices," which means "patient care-related services including nursing; caregiving; services provided by medical residents,interns, or fellows; technical and ancillary services; janitorial work; housekeeping; grounds keeping; guard duties; businessoffice clerical work; food services; laundry; medical coding and billing; call center and warehouse work; scheduling; and giftshop work; but only where such services support patient care".

2. Employees (career, contract, student, per diem) in the UCLA Health medical facilities (e.g. Ronald Reagan Medical Center,Santa Monica UCLA Hospital, Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, etc.) meet these criteria.
