We are seeking (1) Maintenance Foreperson to join the already awesome team taking the department to the next level of excellence! WHAT MAKES The Student Center A GREAT PLACE? * A flexible work environment * Generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, tuition assistance, retirement, etc. * A knowledge-sharing organization that works collaboratively with diverse partners. * Professional development opportunity and mentorship * A rapidly growing center within an academic setting HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO Supervises a Skilled Trades Worker and a Painter II in the maintenance, alteration, and repairs of two heavy use Student Center facilities. The Foreman will also serve time as a front-line Skilled Trades Worker. * Plans, organizes, and schedules work assignments for subordinates; analyzes and resolves work problems; assists workers in solving work problems. * Complete requisitions for materials and supplies as needed. * Establishes standards for safety and needed performances to ensure that the repair of the buildings and fixtures is maintained. * Confers with management to resolve maintenance problems and recommends measures to improve building and fixtures. * Trains subordinates in safe and efficient work practices, methods, tools, and equipment usage. * Performs minor operation, maintenance, installation, and repair of HVAC, heating equipment, and plumbing. * Performs light carpentry work, such as building bookshelves, bookcases, etc. * Installs, repairs, and services motors, pumps, and fans. * Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and systems assigned to HVAC and Heating * Coordinates access and assistance with campus facility staff, IT staff, and vendors. * Performs other related duties as assigned. * Knowledge of standard codes, methods, equipment materials, tools and practices of carpentry, electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems * Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. * Ability to supervise others. * Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. * Technical or vocational degree in plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or electrical trade area; or high school diploma or GED and one year experience in plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or electrical trade. * Ability to lift 50 lbs. * Ability to perform strenuous manual tasks * A valid Georgia Driver's license is required Disclaimer : This job requisition provides a high-level job definition. :
Minimum Hiring Qualifications: Technical or vocational degree in mechanical trade and two years of supervisory experience; or high school diploma or GED and three years of supervisory experience in mechanical trade; or a combination of education and related experience. Preferred Hiring Qualifications: Maintenance experience in a heavily used educational or commercial facility. One Year of supervisory experience. College/Business Unit
