8AM-4:30PM to begin possibility of weekend work further down the line We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Chemistry Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various laboratory settings, including industrial, research, and clinical laboratories. This role involves conducting experiments, analyzing data, and ensuring quality control in accordance with established protocols. The Chemistry Technician will play a crucial role in supporting our laboratory operations. Key Responsibilities * Planning, designing, and conducting laboratory experiments to test the chemical specifications of various substances, materials, and products to inform scientific research * Estimating the resources and time required to conduct an experiment and monitoring performance to ensure these targets are met. * Collecting, preparing, and testing samples and recording observations. * Preparing detailed reports with recommendations, applications, and conclusions * Performing routine maintenance and safety checks on laboratory equipment to ensure it is in good working order * Responsible for managing or performing work in some or all of the following areas; assisting scientists and engineers in lab environment (collect sample, perform biological or chemical analysis), setting controlled research experiments, day to day coordination or lab projects. * Deliver true, accurate results in a timely manner * Technical knowledge and expertise in the use and application of specialized analytical instrumentation. Specific instrumentation includes, but are not limited to, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, HPLC, GC, LCMSMS, and Wet Chemistry tests. * Carrying out routine analysis accurately while following documented methods. * Skilled in sample preparation, clean-up, separation, and assay. * Monitors regional laboratory needs on regular basis. * Operate, manage & maintain laboratory instrumentation * Maintains documentation of analytical results in ELN (Electronic Notebook) and/or the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). * When appropriate, help to write/create documents for, and always follow laboratory quality management systems ISO 17025 and Mars Global Laboratory Quality Management System. * Work as a team player including open and honest communication, respecting confidentiality with any laboratory information. * Follows Health & Safety requirements for Site and Lab. * Will mainly work on or with f inished product and raw materials primarily for pet-food. Context and Scope * Understands key scientific principles associated with analytical chemistry analysis. * Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of laboratory safety, chemicals management and chemical hygiene plans. * Knowledge of statistical methods including sampling plans, statistics and data interpretation including confidence intervals. * Excellent practical laboratory skills. Ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex analytical instrumentation. * Experience and skill in the use of the following: Computers, Spreadsheet software (MS Excel preferred), and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). * Excellent organizational skills to adjust to fluctuating workloads and urgent customer requests while maintaining attention to detail. * Demonstrates ability to follow laboratory safety procedures, maintain accurate records, and clearly and accurately read and interpret data. * Proven written and verbal communication skills. * Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in team environment. Knowledge and Experience * 2 yrs. experience with chemical and/or physical analyses, preferably in food or related industries (advanced education may partially substitute for required experience). * Knowledge and accuracy in the use and maintenance of analytical chemistry instrumentation. Preferred Knowledge and Experience * 5+ yrs. experience performing analytical testing using LCMS, HPLC and GC-FID techniques. * Experience using SPE for sample preparation. * Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
