The Emergency Social Services Case Worker is responsible for the operations of the corps food pantry and provide service through referrals and/or direct assistance to support people facing short-term, unexpected, and temporary emergency or crisis. About the role:
- Conduct interview to assess needs for the family or individual to address their situation
- Develop short-term case plans with family/individual, provide direct assistance and/or direct to appropriate community resources when needed
- Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of community services, and promote good working relations with those service providers, including other Salvation Army programs/staff
- Input and maintain accurate client database records
- Manage pantry programs in accordance with The Salvation Army mission, protocol and procedures, and work within food pantry budget
- Oversee food pantry operations which include but is not limited to sorting, displaying and distributing food products and maintaining current inventory of food on hand
- Maintain pantry and storage areas in clean and orderly condition
- Ensure food is handled and stored in a manner consistent with applicable TEFAP regulations
- Perform client intake in accordance with TEFAP data collection requirements.
- Assist clients with shopping for groceries including frozen items and produce, personal hygiene items and pet food (if available)
- Advise supervisor regarding food purchases
- Plan, coordinate and attend food drives and related events benefiting food pantry and emergency social services
- Complete and maintain accurate and timely records, reports and statistics
- Supervise volunteers assigned to the Pantry.
Education: Associates degree in a Human Services field Certifications: Valid Wisconsin driver's license with clearance to drive from TSA's insurance carrier. Experience: Two years experience -Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities.
