We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Process Engineer within our Corporate Engineering/Licensing organization located at our VCM plant in La Porte, TX.

Essential Job Duties



  • Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products as our highest priority.
  • Implement VCM Licensing contracts through the development of the Basic Engineering Package (BEP) for licensees.
  • Review and approve licensee's detailed engineering documents.
  • Prepare proposal documents and attend technical negotiations to support Licensing sales.
  • Complete studies and various requests for engineering assistance such as providing process studies, process design basis, process specifications, and reviewing cost estimates.
  • Provide licensee plant start-up assistance and support the Catalyst business.
  • Provide process engineering expertise for plant capital projects and studies.
  • Provide technical support and training for plant engineers and technicians.
  • Maintain technical expertise in applicable codes, procedures, selection and application of equipment, and process technology through individual effort and ongoing training.
  • Represent and/or assist in matters of evaluation, selection and coordination and control of vendors supplying necessary operating services, consulting services, materials, equipment and other needs of operation.

Qualifications



  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering with a minimum 3+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing environment, preferably VCM.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Strong knowledge of AspenTech process simulation products or a similar product.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
  • Must be able to travel internationally for extended periods of time on short notice, to support Licensing assignments. Detailed engineering reviews can take 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Physical requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms. Start-up assignments can involve temperature and climate extremes in various parts of the world.

  • Good working knowledge of SAP
  • VCM plant operations or production supervisor experience
  • Project management experience
  • Plant design experience
  • Fluid bed oxychloriation and/or EDC cracking furnace experience a plus
