The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Coordinator at Newport Mental Health (NMH) will lead efforts to foster an inclusive, equitable, and culturally competent environment within our Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). This position is integral to aligning DEI efforts with CCBHC standards, developing and implementing training programs, and establishing partnerships to support both internal staff development and broader community engagement. The DEI Coordinator will also play a key role in building partnerships and coordinating care agreements to enhance service access, particularly within underserved populations. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING (ESSENTIAL DUTIES) ...
- Design, deliver, and assess training programs on DEI principles, cultural competency, and CCBHC standards to ensure all staff are equipped to provide high-quality, inclusive care.
- Develop and implement internal training curricula on DEI topics, including anti-racism, implicit bias, and cultural awareness, tailored for clinical and administrative teams.
- Partner with external DEI trainers and consultants as needed to deliver comprehensive training programs.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of a DEI strategic plan that supports CCBHC initiatives and complies with federal Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Service standards (CLAS).
- Lead and collaborate with the DEI Committee to foster a culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion and enhances staff engagement and awareness.
- Provide resources and materials that support DEI initiatives for CCBHC, compliance, licensure, and program requirements.
- Establish partnerships with local community organizations and equity-focused groups to improve access to services, particularly for BIPOC communities and other underserved populations.
- Develop and manage care coordination agreements that facilitate cross-organization referrals, ensure continuity of care, and enhance resource sharing.
- Lead monthly DEI committee meetings, working collaboratively with staff to identify priorities, monitor progress on DEI goals, and develop actionable initiatives that promote an inclusive workplace.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to align recruitment, hiring, and retention practices with DEI goals, ensuring a diverse workforce.
- Track, analyze, and report on DEI initiatives, training outcomes, and community engagement efforts to measure impact and drive continuous improvement.
- Prepare DEI-related documentation required for compliance with CCBHC and other regulatory bodies.
- Represent the organization at community events and forums to raise awareness of our DEI and CCBHC initiatives.
- Work with the communications team to promote DEI and community initiatives through newsletters, social media, and internal channels.
WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU...
- High School Diploma or GED, bachelor's degree preferred in social sciences, human resources, public health, or a related field
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in DEI work, particularly within healthcare, behavioral health, or community service settings.
- Experience developing and implementing DEI programs and conducting cross-cultural training.
- Knowledge of Affirmative Action, CLAS, and familiarity with CCBHC standards is a plus.
- Strong understanding of DEI principles and demonstrated ability to apply them in a healthcare or community-based setting.
- Experience developing, delivering, and evaluating DEI and cultural competency training programs.
- Proven ability to build relationships with diverse communities and external partners.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into strategic actions.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills for interacting with internal teams and community stakeholders.
- Self-initiating with good judgment and minimal need for supervision.
