What you'll be doing...

As a member of Verizon's Technology Standards Planning team, you will drive standards and industry group activity across the spectrum and satellite ecosystems. As an external-facing Standards Ecosystem Architect, you will shape and be a Verizon lead delegate in key ecosystem groups (ITU-R, ATIS, GSMA, CTIA, etc.), collaborate with internal standards experts (3GPP, Open-RAN), and align positions and ecosystem activities with stakeholder partners.

As a Network Planning member of technical staff, you will be responsible for engaging the ecosystems of both International Spectrum and the Satellite communications. With a focus on preparing for next gen networks (capabilities, performance), you will be responsible for technology analysis, thought leadership, coordinating internal experts, and driving Verizon priorities, strategic interests and objectives in external Industry Groups and standards organizations. This is a high-visibility role with a direct opportunity to contribute to the future of wireless communications.

  • Providing Spectrum & Satellite ecosystem strategy and technical engagement.

  • Increasing Verizon technical thought leadership, and driving Verizon priorities.

  • Actively aligning/partnering with internal partners (Corporate & Technology strategy, public policy, Business, Product, etc.) to shape priorities/positions on international spectrum & terrestrial/NTN and meet business and technology objectives.

  • Organizing ecosystem activity and Verizon information such as contribution review annotations, meeting reports, and analyses.

  • Strengthening Verizon's industry position in spectrum policy and connectivity technologies by creating leadership opportunities in external fora.

  • Analyzing and defining technology architectures to support strategic priorities and objectives, improving network quality and empowering innovative applications and services.

  • Using Verizon priorities to create strategic ecosystem opportunities that improve and ensure delivery of needs from internal & external stakeholders.

  • Proactively providing Verizon teams strategic guidance and read-outs on spectrum & NTN standardization and industry ecosystem activity.

  • Representing Verizon in global industry & standards groups.

  • Evaluating and authoring ecosystem contributions to drive Verizon positions and alignment into partnering where appropriate with operators, vendors, enterprises and Regulatory/FCC etc.

  • Participating in and providing thought leadership in Satellite and Spectrum focused Industry Groups and Forums to represent Verizon's priorities.

  • Collaborating with regulatory groups and relevant Standards Bodies as technical subject matter expert on Spectrum and Satellite verticals.

  • Managing communication of spectrum positions & policy with internal stakeholders.

  • Developing data-driven model for prioritizing spectrum bands based on strategic business case.

  • Leveraging technology to streamline program management/oversight.

**This position can be located in any valid US based Verizon location**

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25%-50% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's or Master's/PhD (preferred) in Electrical Engineering or specialty directly related to Radio, Spectrum or Satellite communications.

  • Extensive experience in the telecom industry experience with a focus on spectrum strategy and/or policy.

  • Strong experience in RF network architecture, Engineering, and Operations.

  • Technical expertise on NTN technology incl. FSS, BSS, HAPS.

  • Technical understanding of all spectrum bands and ecosystem composition for various bands.

  • Experience with strategic standards development; especially 3GPP and ITU-R.

  • Ability to travel including international.

  • Detail oriented with results driven mindset and strong interpersonal skills with ability to grow and develop relationships.

  • Ability to act with relative independence in area of responsibility.

  • Expertise simplifying and presenting complex ideas to high-level audience.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and align cross-functional teams and lead strategically and across broad areas of a business.

  • Ability to work in a fast/dynamic environment with rapid deadlines and parallel projects.

  • Ability to own issues/risk decisions and manage on an ongoing basis.

  • Ability to translate complex ideas and express them in concise, simple to understand ways.

  • Ability to meet deadlines across multiple projects and excel in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

For part-timers, your coverage will vary as you may be eligible for some of these benefits depending on your individual circumstances. If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $129,000.00 and $262,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
